- Are you looking for a high-intensity cardio workout
If so, be aware that the Weider is not a cardio machine. The Weider is geared towards muscle building, sculpting, and maintenance.
While it will definitely raise your heartrate and get the sweat dripping, it’s not the same as using a vertical climber or running around the block.
If you’re looking for a cardio workout, the Weider can still find a place in your workout routine on your off days while you sculpt and strengthen muscles needed for your favorite cardio exercises.
- Are you looking to strengthen my core, arms, legs, and more?
If so, the Weider is a great piece of equipment to consider. With a huge variety of exercises, you can choose which muscle groups you want to target.
You’ll strengthen them tremendously over time, with regular and proper use of the machine, and the benefits will seriously blow you away.

What Muscles Are Being Toned When Using This Home Gym?
One of my top reasons for loving the Weider is that I’m able to target muscle groups as desired.
When I first started using my Weider, I really wanted to tone up my flabby arms. After that, I knew I wanted my chest muscles to be more defined, along with my stomach and leg muscles.
I was able to customize my routine to target my arms first and then slowly add other areas as I began seeing results.
The Weider machine really lets you work out every part of your body. With dozens of exercises, you can focus your workout from head to toe.
It’s important to remember that the Weider isn’t designed for bodybuilding. While your workouts can help you achieve toned and lean muscles, you’re not going to necessarily bulk up.
If this is your goal, you’ll need to eventually add a dumbbell or weight-based workout to your exercise regimen. But if you’re looking to trim up and strengthen your muscles, the Weider is perfect.

When looking at pros and cons of this machine, you’ll certainly come across more positives than negatives. Here are some of the most common praises and complaints regarding the equipment.

- The machine is sturdy. There’s no wobbling during workouts.
- It's incredibly affordable. If you currently pay for a gym membership, the machine will pay for itself in just a few months.
- Setup is quick and easy.
- It folds away for convenient storage.
- With regular workouts and a proper diet, results are fast and impressive.
- The machine is a bit heavy. If you’re hoping to easily move it from one side of the house to the other, you might struggle a bit.
- While the machine is foldable, some find it not worth the effort. If you want it to fit under a bed or in a tight space, you might need to remove a few parts each time you store it.
- For some reason, the workout chart is often missing from the box. Luckily, it’s easy to track it down online or you can purchase a physical copy to put up on the wall in your home gym.
Weider Ultimate Body Works vs Total Gym
If you’re looking at the Weider and thinking that it looks similar to another piece of workout equipment, you’re probably thinking of the Total Gym. You’re right, the design is similar.
But there are a few differences between the two. If you’re torn between the two models, take a look at the differences below.
Both pieces of equipment have a very similar design. There aren’t many differences here.
Both have a long sliding bench attached to a metal frame. Both benches can be set at different inclines to change the difficulty level of your workout.
The handles are attached to the bench, so when you pull on them, you move the bench and use your bodyweight as resistance. Both systems also fold for easy storage.
Both pieces of equipment allow you to complete a wide range of exercises. On both machines, you can complete rows, chest presses, bicep curls, and more.
You can do a squat stand on the Weider which you can’t on some of the more basic versions of the Total Gym. In the extended Total Gym models, you can do up to 80 exercises compared to 50 exercises on the Weider.
The Weider is a bit shorter than the Total Gym, but it is wider. The measurements are important to consider if you have very limited space. The Weider is 26 inches wide, 49 inches tall, and 71 inches long.
The Total Gym measures in at 19 inches wide, 43 inches tall, and 90 inches long. Both can fold, but remember to also consider the space needed to operate the equipment.
Here’s the biggest (and for many people, the most important) difference between the two models. The Weider can be purchased for under $150 while the least expensive Total Gym model comes in at a whopping $599.
The most expensive model costs over a grand. If budget is a large concern, the Weider is the winner, hands down.
What Is Its Weight Limit?
Most types of workout equipment have a weight limit and the Weider is no exception. The Weider Ultimate Body Works weight limit is 400 pounds. For your safety, don’t use the bench if your weight is over the limit.
I recommend still buying the bench and setting it up somewhere you’ll see it. Use it as motivation to lose enough weight to be able to use it.
Once you can exercise with the Weider, you’ll find weight loss and muscle sculpting even easier to achieve.
Is It Easy to Assemble?
Yes, the Weider is fairly easy to assemble, especially when compared to other large pieces of workout equipment. When you order your new equipment, you’ll find that the majority of the bench will come pre-assembled.
This includes the rail, back support, adjustment leg, and base frame.
When it comes to the Weider Ultimate Body Works assembly, all you need to worry about is the foot plate, handlebar, and base stabilizer. This also includes connecting the cable attachments and taking care of any bungee cords.
Even if you don’t have much experience in assembling workout equipment, you should have everything together in about 15 minutes or so.
One of my favorite features of this equipment is that it comes with a 90-day standard warranty. But even after the warranty is up, it’s easy to order replacement parts.
There is an extended warranty option, but I chose to forgo the add-on, as I’m confident I can repair any issues for less money. But if you’re not handy, it might be worth considering.
