In all honesty, there really isn’t much on my rowing machine that I don’t like. Sunny Health Fitness is known for their superior designs and features.
If I had to choose something though, it would be the console. I wish it gave me a little more information so I could track my progress.
It doesn’t let me know my heart rate or the distance I’ve rowed. But for the price, the console isn’t terrible.

- Running will usually burn more calories. The average person burns about 160 calories in a half hour workout on a rowing machine and about 180 calories in a half hour while running. The difference isn’t drastic, but if burning calories is your main goal, running would give you faster results.
- Rowing works out more muscles. You’re using your upper, middle, and lower body during your entire rowing workout, while running focuses more on your lower body. Also, a rowing workout is less intense on your joints. If you’re looking for a low-impact workout or are recovering from an injury, rowing is the better option.
You can always do what I do. I mix up my rowing and running workouts. I run once or twice a week for maximum burned calories and then spend a few days on my rowing machine.
This keeps me lean and trim but doesn’t leave me exhausted.
