The Stamina Rower really is first in its class. It’s great as an entry model for beginners, but it’s also advanced enough for those who have been rowing for years.

It’s an incredible value upfront, but the value will become even more clear as the months and years of use go by.

I’ll admit that the design is a bit outdated, but if you’re going for that retro look, it’s suddenly fun and quirky.

The Stamina is classified as a hydraulic rower, which means it uses one piston beneath the main column for resistance. I’ve read that if you’re a little rough with your rowing, this piston can quickly wear out.

But if you row at a regular pace and intensity level, this shouldn’t be an issue.

Overall, I found the Stamina Rowing Machine to be very comfortable and effective. My workouts flew by, and every motion was relatively smooth.

It did take me a bit to adjust to the foot rests. At first, my feet kept popping out. But once I became more comfortable with the machine, this stopped.

All of the necessary tools came with, and I had the entire Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine together in less than half an hour.

How to Use the Stamina Body Trac Glider

If you’ve never used a rower before, you might not be sure how to use it. I’ll break down the pieces of the perfect row so that it’s easier to understand. You’ll be a pro in no time!

Leg Isolations

Hold the oar with your arms extended. Bend your knees and keep your weight on the balls of your feet. Keep your back straight, and remember to keep your abs and other core muscles engaged.

Push back with only your legs. Your feet will roll out until they’re completely flat. Make sure to keep your arms extended.

Arm Isolations

Here’s the next key workout move. Keep your legs straight and pull the oar towards your chest. Bend your elbows out to each side and pull the oar until it’s just under your chest.

You should be holding the oar lightly and using your upper back to pull it towards you. Not sure if you’re doing it right? You should be using the same muscles you would for a push-up.

Combine and Row

Now it’s time to put the two movements together simultaneously. Making sure to keep your back straight and your abs tight, push back with your lower body. Then use your upper back to pull the oar towards your chest.

Finish by releasing your arms toward the floor and bending your knees, which will start your descent back to the starting position.

If you’re not sure how to time your movements, use a simple beat counting system. It should take you one beat to push out and then double the time, or two beats, to glide back to your starting position.

If you’re having trouble figuring out what area of your body to concentrate on, repeat, “legs, arms, arms, legs,” while you work out.

Which Core Muscles Does This Rowing Machine Build?

I know, everyone thinks of sit-ups when it comes to working core muscles. But in reality, doing a million sit ups probably won’t get you the look you’re after.

A rowing machine, surprisingly, can accomplish the task that sit ups often can’t. That’s because rowing works out just about every muscle in your body, including those found in your core.

Here are a few things to remember when you want great core results from your rower:

  • Make sure that your posture is perfect while rowing. This is the best way to target your core muscles and maximize your results.
  •  You’ll want to be using the right level of resistance. If it’s too low, you won’t be challenging your muscles. If it’s too high, you’ll be using more of your leg and arm power to row and your core muscles will either be left out or overworked.
  • If you want impressive results, you can’t slack on your rowing. Each workout will need to be intense. Stay focused and keep working on your strength and speed.

Rectus Abdominus

This is probably the most well-known core muscle. Our abs are definitely getting a workout during a rowing routine. Your abs help you to flex your spine forward. Remember not to hunch while rowing. A little leaning is acceptable though.

Erector Spinae

These are the muscles found on either side of your spine. You’re working out most of them each time you pull the oar back.

It’s interesting to learn that many cases of back pain are directly related to weak lower erector spinae muscles. If you suffer from back pain, rowing could erase the problem.

A rowing machine works out just about every main muscle group, including your leg muscles, arm muscles, shoulder and back muscles, and other core muscles.

Don’t think that rowing is just for arm strength. It can completely sculpt and tone your body, including your stomach and lower and upper back.

What's the Weight Limit for the Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine?

The Body Trac Rowing Machine has a weight limit of 250 pounds. If you weigh more than the Stamina Body Trac Glider 1050 Rowing Machine weight limit, chose a different workout method until you can use a rowing machine without the risk of injury.

If you still want to get in on a rowing workout, there are standing rowing machines that you can use for the time being to at least get the arm movements down.

Once you can safely sit on a traditional rowing machine, you’ll already have a good idea of what to expect and how to use the machine.

Warranty Info

I always recommend purchasing workout equipment that either comes with a warranty or offers a warranty package. These typically aren’t small purchases, and it’s wise to protect your investment.

There’s both good and bad when it comes to the Stamina warranty. First, it does cover the frame for an entire year.

No matter what happens to the frame of your Stamina Rower, it will be repaired or replaced during the first year of owning the machine.

However, the parts warranty will only protect you for 90 days. If you don’t use your rower very often, there’s a good chance that you might not notice an issue until after those first few months go by.
