Keiser M3i Cycle Black

Keiser has been making workout bikes for over a decade.

They definitely know what they’re doing, and their latest model just set the bar for all other stationary bike brands.

It’s often called the best spin bike on the market, and I completely understand why.

The first time I used one, I was blown away by the quality and features. They really made the bike stand out among the competition.

It looks amazing, rides amazing, and makes you feel amazing.

It doesn’t matter if you’re planning on using the M3i as a spin bike or an indoor road training bike. It’s worth every penny and will certainly help you reach your latest biking goal.

How to Pick the Best Indoor/Exercise Bike

Keiser has quite a few bikes on the market, and we’ll go over those in a moment. But how do you pick the best indoor bike?

The following tips apply to any bike, whether you choose to go with a Keiser or not. But I’m sure that once you do a bit of research, you’ll realize that Keiser makes it easy to walk out the door with the best indoor bike in the store.

Basic Types

There are a few different types of indoor cycling bikes. The first is a wind bike. Wind bikes are the original style that you’re probably most familiar with.

When you pedal, resistance is created from a fan. The faster you pedal, the more resistance there is. They’re affordable, but not very realistic.

You’ll also come across magnetic types which use a magnetic flywheel to provide resistance. The resistance can be adjusted, and there are plenty of feature options with this type.

There are also fluid trainers, which are a modified magnetic bike. They include a magnetic flywheel, but there’s also chambers of fluid to give you more options when it comes to resistance. This will give you the most natural feel during your workouts.

You might want to make sure that the bike you choose is compatible with attachments you’re interested in. For some, this won’t matter, but if you’re interested in upgrades, a compatible bike is a must.

Some indoor cycling bikes fold up for storage. If you are tight on space, a foldable bike might be important. If you have room to spare, this might not be a concern.

If you work out during the night or early in the morning, the noise level of your bike might be an issue. Keiser bikes are known for their low noise levels and allow you to work out just about any time of the day or night without disturbing anyone.

While it’s not likely that you'll tip over on your indoor bike, it’s possible. Make sure that your bike is stable. Generally speaking, the wider the base, the more stable your bike is.

The Difference Between the Keiser M3, Keiser M3 Plus, & Keiser M3i

All three bikes are excellent choices. They all have magnetic resistance and are incredibly quiet.

Maintenance is minimal, and you’ll really enjoy the quiet ride they all offer. However, there are a few differences between them that might impact your decision.

The Keiser M3 has great ratings, but the most common complaint is that the handlebar doesn’t move horizontally. This makes it hard to increase the height of the handlebars because they move farther away.

When you lower them, they can become too close. This isn’t an issue for everyone who tries the Keiser M3 indoor cycle, but if your body type doesn’t match up perfectly, this can be a real inconvenience.

The Keiser M3 Plus has handlebars that are completely adjustable, unlike the Keiser M3. No matter your height or arm length, you’ll be able to find a setting that’s comfortable for you.

The handlebars themselves are also designed differently; they don’t look like traditional handlebars, but allow you to place your hands in several ways. You’ll be able to rest them comfortably whether you’re doing cycle training or focusing on spinning for weight loss.

The Keiser M3i is the newest model, and also has adjustable handlebars. But this bike comes with a few more additional features over some of the other models.

It records your data so you can track your progress, and uses Bluetooth to connect with a free app to analyze your recorded data.

It also has pre-set holes in the adjustment pole. This is primarily a safety feature to keep the seat from dipping down too much if not properly secured.

Special Features of the Keiser M3 Plus

All Keiser models, including the Keiser M3ix and the Keiser M3x, are pretty fabulous, but the M3 Plus has plenty of great features that make it stand apart from the pack.

The first thing that you’ll notice is its sleek design. It’s pretty easy to put together. You'll need a few tools, but if you have a halfway stocked toolbox lying around, you should be fine.

It’s also incredibly sturdy. This bike is heavier than some but can support 300 pounds.

Don’t worry about being able to move it. It includes transport wheels, so you can move the bike around with ease.

You can put it in front of your television during your workouts and then stash it in the corner when you’re done.

I also noticed right away that the seat is pretty comfortable. It’s wide, so you don’t have to feel like you’re balancing on it. It’s also nicely padded.

You want your experience to be as comfortable as possible. The seat definitely adds an extra level of comfort.

One of the best features of this Keiser spin bike is its advanced magnetic resistance. This is incredibly hard to come by on an indoor bike, so it’s a pretty unique feature.

The realistic resistance helps to challenge every part of your body, while making you feel like you’re riding down the street or through a forest preserve. You can really get a good workout with this type of resistance.

Even with fantastic resistance options, this bike is still incredibly quiet. You can workout at any time of the day without worrying about disturbing others in your home or your neighbors in an apartment.

Pros and Cons of Using the Keiser M3 Plus

I could go on all day about this Keiser spin bike, but here are some of the most important pros:

Adjustable Handlebars

The handlebar setup is unique on the Keiser M3 Plus. They adjust forward and back for comfort. You can also move them up and down based on your height.

No matter your size, you should be able to adjust the bike to give you a comfortable experience.

Smooth Resistance

You might think that you’re actually on a real bike, thanks to the ultra-smooth magnetic braking system. If you’re stuck using an indoor bike because of weather conditions, you’ll love this feature.

Resistance changes don’t cause shuddering or pulsating brake effects.

Workout Monitor

You’ll know everything that’s going on with your indoor cycling workout with this full-featured monitor. Keep track of your pedal rotations per minute, resistance, time, distance, and burned calories.

You’ll be able to see the benefit of each workout as you track your progress over the weeks or months.

Looks might not matter, but you’ll definitely appreciate the minimalist design of this bike, along with top-quality construction. The base is solid, and you won’t feel like you’re moments from tipping over.

There’s also little maintenance required with this bike. Just give it a quick wipe-down when you’re done and you should be good to go. The design allows for easy assembly as well.

Nothing in life is perfect, but you’ll notice this is a pretty short list of cons.

There’s no sugar coating this. The bike is expensive compared to some of the competition. But if you look at similar high-quality models, the price suddenly doesn’t seem too steep.

This bike might not fit into every budget, but if you can swing it, you’ll be more than happy with your purchase. You’ll also get your money’s worth thanks to its sturdy design.

You’ll be enjoying your new indoor bike for years to come.

Computer Display

While I love what the display keeps track of, it can be a little difficult to read at times. Sometimes, I have to actually stop my workout for a moment so I can get a closer look at the screen and see where I’m at.

Many recumbent bike reviews talk about this issue though, so it’s common across the board.

Health Benefits of Using a Keiser M3 Plus

While I’m sure you’re aware that there are health benefits involved with indoor cycling, you might not realize just how many there are. I know I was surprised!

But now I experience the following during my workouts, and I feel great knowing I'm doing so much for my body.

Cardiovascular Benefits

Aerobic physical activity is a must for a healthy heart and body. Most adults should be enjoying about a half hour of cardiovascular activity at least five days a week. But most of us don’t.

A simple way to remedy this problem is to use a stationary bike. It’s a quick workout that really gets the blood pumping. Remember that continuous workouts like those done on a bike can lead to a lower risk of coronary artery disease, lower blood pressure, and a lower resting heart rate.

Less Stress

Don’t we all need a little less stress in our lives?

An intense workout like indoor cycling can help your body to release happy neurotransmitters. These endorphins create euphoric feelings and help to lower your stress level while enhancing the body’s immune system.

Bye-Bye Calories

Want to drop a few pounds? One of the quickest ways to reach your weight goals is through indoor cycling.

An intense hour of cycling can burn up to 1,000 calories. Taking part in a few classes each week can make a big difference when it comes to the scale in just a few months, especially when combined with a healthy diet and other smart health choices.

Increased Endurance

Do you get tired after climbing a flight of stairs? Is the idea of playing outside with your kids a nightmare?

Getting into an indoor cycling routine can help to increase muscular endurance by strengthening bones, tendons, and ligaments. Before you know it, you’ll be running up the stairs, playing longer than your kids, and getting through the physical demands of the day with ease.

Low Impact

Have you been injured in past workouts? Are you recovering from surgery?

If you're worried about the effect a workout will have on old injuries and joints, cycling is an ideal method of burning calories without putting your body under stress.

When you work out on an indoor cycling bike correctly, you’ll minimize impact on your hips, knees and joints. An hour-long workout will feel effortless when it comes to your joints, and you’ll be able to schedule another workout sooner than you might with other more intense workout sessions.

I know how many choices you have when it comes to finding the perfect indoor cycling bike. But trust me when I say that the Keiser M3 Plus, along with other Keiser models, are the perfect combination of style and functionality.

You’ll love everything the bike has to offer and find yourself looking forward to your workouts and training sessions.

If you’re looking to make a positive change in your life, consider picking up a Keiser bike. It’s the best thing I’ve done for my health in ages, and I’m sure you’ll experience similar amazing results.

Cycle stress and weight away with the Keiser M3 Plus!
