How Do I Train with Hand Grippers?
To train with your hand grippers, follow these hand strengthener exercises. Keep in mind that your particular set might have slightly different instructions, so always refer to the manual included with your hand grippers, if applicable.
Begin by placing one handle of the hand grips against your palm. Then wrap your fingers around the handle. Slowly squeeze the handles together.
You might not be able to squeeze them all the way. That’s okay. Just squeeze as hard and far as you can. Hold the squeeze for about five seconds before slowly releasing it. I recommend starting with two sets of 10 squeezes.
Do this for each hand, slowly building up the repetitions and sets as your hands get stronger.
Grab onto the hand grip, keeping your fingertips on the handles. Avoid using too much of your palm. Next, use both hands to squeeze the handgrip together.
Remove the hand not wrapped around the hand grip and perform a reverse squeeze exercise by releasing the grip of your hand as slowly as possible. Do two sets of five squeezes, since these are a little harder. Build up repetitions as you gain strength.
This final exercise is known as finger curls. Place the hand grip in the palm of your hands. Next, place your fingertips on the springs.
Curl your fingers like you’re making a fist in order to close the springs. Slowly release your grip. You can make this exercise more difficult by only curling one finger at a time. Do just a single set of 10 repetitions for each hand before building up.
What’s the Recommended Resistance Range for Beginners?
If you’re just beginning, it’s recommended to begin with a set of hand grippers that have a 100-pound resistance, 150 pounds max. Make sure you always use the best hand grip strengthener for your skill level.
What Muscles Do Hand Strengtheners Build?
