My old exercise bike finally broke. I couldn’t even tell you who made it.

I inherited it from my grandma, and I’m pretty sure it was older than her.

So I was actually relieved when it finally gave out and I was able to pick out a shiny new one.

I quickly became overwhelmed with my options. However, I knew there was one feature I couldn’t do without. The bike absolutely needed to be foldable.

The old bike always seemed to be in the way. I had to lug it from room to room when I had company over. No matter how many times I rearranged my furniture, I just couldn’t find a spot for it.

So I began to search for the best folding exercise bike. When I came across Exerpeutic Exercise Bike reviews, I knew I had to check the brand out. I’ll save you some time and give you the details on this awesome bike.

The Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike with Pulse is just about the best foldable bike you can buy in its price range. It features a heavy-duty design that gives you a secure experience.

But the bike was also designed with comfort in mind. It features a large seat cushion that more than met my expectations.

I fell in love with biking all over again with the Exerpeutic bike. I realized that I put off my workouts before because the old bike I was using was noisy, uncomfortable, and didn’t show me my progress.

But with my new bike, I could easily watch television while I worked out because it was quiet. I was comfortable and found myself working out for longer than I normally would have.

I also found that I pushed myself harder, because I could track how many calories I was burning with each session.

My new bike helped inspire me to work out regularly. I lost weight and my doctor noted that my blood pressure was lowering back to a healthy level.

I think my Exerpeutic Magnetic Upright Exercise Bike with heart pulse sensors helped put me on track to living a long and healthy life.

Let me also say that if you happen to check out the bike and just aren’t sure if it’s for you, make sure you take a look at the Exerpeutic 500 XLS Foldable Magnetic Upright Bike. It’s a little bit more money but might have what you’re looking for.

What Are the Benefits of Using an Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike?

I probably don’t have enough space to list all of the benefits associated with this bike. But here are a few that should get you excited about trying a new folding bike.

Bye-Bye Calories

I can’t believe how fast I’m losing weight with this bike. It seriously seems like I sit on the bike and the calories start disappearing before I even pedal. I don’t feel like I’m about to pass out at the end of my workout, either. It might just be the easiest way I’ve lost weight.

Sturdy Frame

Exerpeutic Therapeutic Fitness is a brand that only works with top quality products. This was a very obvious perk that I noticed the first time I sat on one of their bikes. You won’t have to worry about your bike breaking down on you because of a weak or worthless frame.

Easy to Put Together

You’ll have to put together your bike, which can be intimidating if you’ve never done it before. But I found the assembly of this bike very simple. As long as you follow the provided diagrams and instructions, you should be okay. All the tools are included as well.

Saves Space

Here’s an obvious but still awesome benefit. It seems like many high-quality bikes aren’t foldable. It also seems like those that do fold up aren’t made very well. But the Exerpeutic bike is both high-quality and foldable. I left my bike out when I could, but when I had company coming over, it only took a minute to fold it and store it out of sight.

Upright vs Recumbent

Have you been looking into recumbent bikes as well? Then you might be a bit unsure as to which is better.

Upright bikes have been the standard for years. They keep getting better and they usually cost less than a recumbent bike.

They usually take up less space as well, since you’re sitting up straight instead of being reclined back.

On the other hand, a recumbent bike is more comfortable. There’s no doubt about that. You can also multitask while exercising. Your hands are free to check email, read a book, or even knit a sweater (why not?).

But if you’re going to spend a good portion of your day exercising, you want every second to count. Unfortunately, it’s pretty easy to slack off on a recumbent bike.

Overall, I’ve always preferred an upright bike. There are pros and cons to both types, but if you’re looking for an affordable and efficient way to burn calories and keep your body health, an upright bike is a great choice.

What Are the Special Features of the Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike?

Still wondering what all the fuss is about? Here’s a list of features based on my experience and Exerpeutic exercise bike reviews.

Magnetic Resistance

Magnetic resistance is always ideal. But what’s even better about this bike is that it features eight different resistance levels.

So whether you’re completely new to biking, have been biking for decades, or are recovering from an injury or surgery, there’s a resistance level that will keep you challenged without putting you at risk for an injury.

Large LCD Display

You’ll see your workout data as it happens with the large and easy to read LCD display on this bike. I’ve found that other bikes have displays that are either limited or too small to read.

But I always knew exactly how many calories I had burned, how long I had been working out, how far I had pedaled, and how fast. This made it easy to set new goals.

Smooth Workout

Compared to most other models, this exercise bike is incredibly quiet. You won’t be distracted by loud clanks and clangs.

You can also work out at just about any time of day without having to worry about disturbing family members or roommates. The high torque crank system also provides for a smooth and relaxing experience.

Hand Pulse Monitors

When you need to keep track of your heartbeat during your workout, there’s nothing more frustrating than having to stop and take your pulse. It kills your momentum.

So I love that the Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike with Pulse has built in hand pulse monitors in the handlebars. You'll always know your current heart rate without having to stop what you’re doing.

Ideal for Anyone

No matter your height or gender, this exercise bike can most likely accommodate you. There is a weight limit, but this is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment I’ve ever used. My entire family squeezes in at least one workout a week on this bike.

Are There Any Health Risks Associated with Using an Upright Bicycle?

As with any form of exercise, there are a few health risks you should keep in mind before beginning an exercise routine.

Pulled Muscles

If you don’t take the time to stretch your muscles, you’ll most likely wake up the next day very tight and sore. Luckily, this is completely preventable. Always stretch and never use a resistance level that’s too advanced for your current skills.

Heart Stress

If you’re not cleared by your doctor for cardiovascular exercise, biking is not the right option for you at this time. It really gets your blood pumping and works out just about every muscle in your body, including your heart.

If you have any concerns, check with your doctor and make sure your heart is healthy enough for cycling.

While there are risks when biking, there are many more health benefits that you’ll experience. For example, you can expect your stress levels to almost disappear with regular biking sessions.

You’ll also lose weight and strengthen your heart.

You might also experience lower blood pressure and a reduced risk of heart disease. Some researchers even suggest that regular exercise lowers your risk for certain types of cancer.

As long as you approach each workout seriously and take the proper precautions, your workout should be safer than it is dangerous. Should you have any questions, speak with your doctor first.

And if you think you need something a little less intense for now, consider the Sunny Health and Fitness Rowing Machine.

What Muscles Are Being Developed When Using an Upright Bicycle?

You’re using a whole bunch of muscles when completing an upright exercise workout! It’s not just about your legs. Take a look.

Upper Legs

We'll start with an obvious muscle group. You’re working your quadriceps and hamstrings each time you pedal on an upright bicycle. The more resistance you use, the harder your legs have to work through each rotation.

Glutes

If you really want to work out those glute muscles, lean forward a bit as you pedal. You’ll really feel the burn, and you’ll love how you look in jeans in no time. Just don’t put the resistance too high, or you’ll risk a sore bottom.

Lower Legs

Of course, you’re working your lower legs as well. Your calves have to push and pull every time you pedal. If you make an effort to keep your toes pointed downward when you pedal upwards, you'll work the muscles even more.

If you have trouble remembering to do this, invest in some cycling shoes. The motion should become natural. If you want to really tone your calves, spend part of your time pedaling while standing up.

Core Muscles

You might not get a six-pack from using your upright bicycle, but as long as you maintain proper posture, your abs and back will still get a great workout. Make sure you keep your back completely straight and keep those abs tight.

You can also lean forward a bit to help focus on your back muscles, but keep in mind that not all upright bikes will allow you to do this safely.

Upper Body

You’ll be using your upper arms to support your body as you pedal. This helps to tone your upper back, shoulders, and upper arms. Again, depending on the model, this might not be very intense.

If you really want to make sure you’re working every muscle group you can, try doing some curls or overhead raises with some light hand weights while you cycle. Just make sure you have a well-balanced bike with a sturdy frame.

Is There a Weight Limit When Using the Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike?

Yes, there is. The frame is able to support 300 pounds. If your current weight is higher than this, do not use the bike as there is a risk for injury.

If you’re looking for a workout bike that won’t take over your space, the Exerpeutic Folding Magnetic Upright Bike is the answer.

Get your workout in. Fold the bike. Store the bike. Get on with your life.

So stop the excuses and make your health a priority. It’s a decision you’ll never regret.
